STARTING DATE: 2024-2025 School Year
REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor
SALARY RANGE: $16.88 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Valid Ohio School Bus Driver’s/Van Driver’s Certification, or willing and able to obtain within 60 days of hiring/board approval
- Licensed as a school bus operator (Valid CDL Class B w/S & P Endorsements and air brake)
- A minimum of two years driving experience preferred
- Physically qualified (OAC 3301-83-07)
- Subject to semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education
- Maintain a valid driver’s license; meet all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the District’s insurance carrier
- Physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing special needs children when necessary
- Ability to cope with stressful situations
- Possessing or upgrading skills through formal and/or in-service training including completing four hours of annual in-service training
- A satisfactory report from the state bureau of criminal identification and investigation that includes information from the federal bureau of investigation shall be required prior to the hiring of an individual as a school bus driver
- A negative pre-employment drug test
- Participation in drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) pursuant to 49 CFR 382 (January 2007)
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Transporting students to and from educational field trips including job sites, state and local competitions and occasional overnight trips
- Responsible for the safe, efficient and courteous transportation of students and staff according to the regulations of the State of Ohio, Ohio Department of Education and the policies of the Penta Career Center Board of Education
- Follow Ohio School Bus Operation and Safety Rules, the Ohio Revised Code and local district policies and procedures
- Perform Pre-Trip Inspections per OAC 3301-83-11
- Follow Pupil Management Policies per OAC 3301-83-08 and local policies to ensure the safety and welfare of all school bus passengers
- Perform Basic First Aid as required
- Maintain favorable public relations
- Reporting attendance of passengers to appropriate personnel
- Maintaining proper fiscal paperwork, i.e., time slips, receipts for reimbursement, travel expenditures, etc.
- Driving in inclement weather and hazardous conditions
- Remain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district
